Mega Line Expansion
Gleeson was awarded a contract with Advance Brands of Orange City, Iowa for the expansion of their Ready-to-Eat Processing Facility. Advance is a manufacturer/distributor of ready to eat convenience meats, sold to restaurants and grocery stores nationwide.
The project included expanding the plant area by 33,200 s.f. on a 9-month schedule (16,000 s.f. of new production space, 5,500 s.f. of cooler and dock space, 6,000 s.f. of office and welfare area, and 5,700 s.f. of engine room). The expansion allows an increase of production capacity by 47% to 45 million pounds of fully-cooked meat products per year and increases Advance’s workforce by 120 people. Included were replacement of an existing engine room with a new centralized, state-of-the-art engine room with high voltage compressors. The production addition consists of stainless steel clean rooms with paneled ceilings and flush mounted lights. Above the ceiling is a 6-foot tall interstitial space which contains all of the utilities for the equipment. Great care was taken to eliminate horizontal pipe runs in the production areas and create a facility with
food safety at the forefront.
Also included as a part of the processing is a new thermal fluid addition, new boiler, air compressors and hydraulics, all designed and supplied by Gleeson.
