A design/build project that gave Excel Specialty Products a 46,400 s.f. addition which included approximately 29,700 s.f. of freezer and blast freezer at it’s Booneville, Arkansas, production plant. This structural steel and insulated metal panel building was added onto the existing facility.
The project included construction of a 12,400 s.f. loading dock area and cooler. The freezer has a total capacity of 3,676 pallets stacked four high. The blast freezer included six cells, each with 52 ton evaporative units, capable of receiving 90,000 pounds of product a day and freezing the product to –10° F in 24 hours.
Refrigeration piping and valves were installed on the roof and the floor warming system consists of 4-inch diameter, forced air vent tubes under the freezer floor. In addition, a new electrical room sized to serve the new freezer and existing facility was constructed.
Also included within this project was the re-modeling of approximately 4,300 s.f. of existing cooler into a meat processing area. Design and construction included mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, structural, architectural and installation of the processing equipment, including microwaves, grinding line and packaging line.
